Rosie is a highly experienced HR generalist with more than 25 years’ HR experience in a variety of businesses, including Rolls-Royce, E.on, Capita and MHA Care Group. She is very adaptable, pragmatic and practised at applying her knowledge and skills in any environment. Rosie’s experience has been gained at a senior level in both unionised and non-unionised organisations, in a wide range of sectors and different sized organisations (from 7 employees to 37,000 employees) and she has worked with private sector, not for profit and public sector employees. She has also managed teams of varying size and complexity.
Rosie has a particularly strong background in employee relations and employment law and has been a lay member in the Employment Tribunal since 2002, sitting at several cases each year. She has been Employee Relations Manager for Rolls-Royce’s Derby sites, has worked in a rail maintenance company, negotiating with railway unions, and has also worked with teachers’ unions. She has dealt with (or avoided) industrial action on several occasions and also she is a trained and experienced mediator. Rosie has conducted and advised on disciplinaries, grievances, capability and absence cases over many years, some involving employment tribunals, and many settlement agreements.
Having led many restructures and redundancy programmes, in a variety of organisations, Rosie is used to advising on organisation design, change management and collective consultation. She has had considerable experience of TUPE transfers, having worked in a very commercial outsourcing company and is extremely knowledgeable on TUPE case law as well as practical due diligence and integration.
Rosie has a very calm and logical approach to problems. She started her career as an engineer and is very numerate and analytical, with a preference for data-based decision-making. She has considerable experience of producing management information and employment statistics. She also has led projects to simplify pay scales and introduce bonus schemes.
In a number of organisations, Rosie has made significant improvements to employee engagement, leading to improved retention and reduced absence rates. She has experience of developing and coordinating employee engagement surveys and has also led projects involving talent management, succession planning and has led project teams designing and implementing career progression structures.
She has coached senior managers in several organisations, helping them to improve their people management skills and she has many years’ experience of improving recruitment & selection in different companies & sectors.
Rosie is a trustee on the Boards of two organisations: a Multi Academy Trust and a Mental Health Association.
In her spare time (what there is of it) she likes to spend time outside, gardening or having barbecues with her family, or working with them on renovating their Georgian house.
